Located inside the Hilton Bankside, OXBO Bankside is nicely designed with various different areas and table types to choose from. We loved the large open-plan kitchen allowing guests to observe their dishes being created. The service was friendly, and there is a good varied menu on offer.
We started the evening with a couple of fine glasses of Chapel Down Vintage Reserve, Brut from Kent, England, as an aperitif. To begin we ordered the Kabocha Pumpkin Soup, with Red Onion and Sage Fritters. Pumpkin is an acquired taste, but I always enjoy it and this soup was delicious. We also ordered the lightly Smoked Scottish Salmon, with Lemon and Capers. Another delicious dish which certainly didn't disappoint.
“OXBO Bankside treated us well and was a pleasure to experience.”
For our main course we shared the Chateaubriand from the chef’s specials board. This was accompanied with English Potato Chips, and we added sides of Norfolk Celeriac and Carrots, Winter Cabbage with Bacon and Onion. The Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection, the meat was tender and juicy, just how we like it. The side dishes were equally as enjoyable, everything that came out of the kitchen was spot on.
To complete our evening we sampled the Raspberry Crème Brulee, a delicious fruit infused Brulee that was rich in flavour. As well as a Baked Vanilla Cheesecake with Berry Compote, the Cheesecake although simple was completed our evening perfectly for us.
Our chosen wine for the evening was Château Croix Blanche Montagne Saint Emilion Bordeaux, France, 2011. A well balanced wine with a smooth and velvety delivery, we will certainly be ordering this again in the future. We had an enjoyable evening of dining, OXBO Bankside treated us well and was a pleasure to experience.
