L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon is located on the edge of Covent Garden. The impressive façade is quite something to behold, and is a sight that sets the tone of things to come.

As we entered L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon we were shown to the elevator which transported us to the top floor and into the saloon bar. The bar area boasts a beautifully relaxed ambiance, perfect for a Saturday evening, with the flames of the fire adding to the low level lighting creating an atmospheric setting.

We began our evening with a few pre-dinner cocktails, including a Raspberry and Basil Caipirinha – a new take on an old classic- and a Kumquat and Passion Caipiroska. We then moved on to try a Black Margarita and a Raspberry and Chilli Martini. Each cocktail was as impressive as the last, with beautiful presentation and gorgeous flavours; a particular favourite being the Raspberry and Chilli Martini.

“The food at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon is just exceptional...”

After our cocktails we entered the elevator once more, this time the destination was the ground floor where we were shown to our table overlooking the kitchen. We were very impressed from the offset with the service, as the staff who looked after us were incredibly friendly and made us feel instantly welcome, regardless of the fact the restaurant was busy and bustling.

R32;We made our menu choices and decided to make the most of L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon’s knowledgeable and friendly sommelier. To start, we opted for the black Perigord truffly and chichory salad with Fuji apple – which was paired with a beautiful 2011 Pouilly-Fumé – and the caviar Imperial with a symphony of salmon tartar, which was served with a glass of 2009 Sauvignon Blanc.

For our main courses, we enjoyed the pan fried sea bass with lemongrass foam and baby leeks, paired with a 2009 Chardonnay; and the milk fed lamb cutlets with fresh time, served with a glass of 2009 Ciranza.

The dessert highlight for us was certainly the Le Chocolate Tendance – a gorgeous chocolate mousse served with a bitter chocolate sorbet and Oreo cookie crumble. It was simply gorgeous! Served with a glass of 2011 Californian Elysium, it was the perfect end to an excellent meal.

The food at L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon is just exceptional, and it came as no surprise to us to learn that the restaurant has been awarded two Michelin Stars.

Our evening was absolutely wonderful, and we would highly recommend L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon as a must visit restaurant!
