We recently visited the Dorsett Shepherd’s Bush, as the name suggests, this hotel is located in London’s Shepherd's Bush, offering a central enough location whilst being away from the crowds. The building was formally ‘The Pavilion’ a Grade II listed building which now offers modern architecture overlooking Shepherd’s Bush Green, retaining the building's original façade.
As this was our first experience with the Dorsett brand I was unsure what to expect, however I can honestly say we were remarkably surprised by this hotel. The design throughout felt luxurious and immaculately kept.
After a short check-in we were shown on our way to our suite. When we arrived we were delighted to note that it certainly wasn’t short of space, and was well designed, mimicking the public areas. Our suite was complete with a large open plan bedroom-come-living area, with the king size bed taking centre stage - huge floor to ceiling windows, a flat screen television, a coffee machine and a mini bar. The bathroom was also very large and included his and hers wash basins with polished chrome fixtures and fittings, a separate bath and walk-in shower, as well as crisp white fluffy robes and towels.
“We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of London’s city centre.”
Another useful facility we found in our room is their smartphone, which guests are encouraged to use and take around with them as they explore the local area. Not only does it come loaded with information about London’s best places to eat, see and shop, but it also has 4G internet allowing you to download and use your favourite apps, as well as use the maps functionality. It is the perfect gadget for those who are new to the area, and will also allow free calls to Europe, Canada, China, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, and the USA.
In the hotel itself you will find a spa offering an array of treatments as well as a sauna and steam room, and there is also a well-equipped gym for those looking to keep fit. For foodies, there are a couple of options that should keep you happy, including Pictures and Shikumen; both of which offer a mix of causal all day dining and creative Asian cuisine. Although don’t forget there’s also an array of fantastic bars and restaurants on the doorstep of this hotel.
Dorsett Shepherd's Bush offered us a superb stay which we thoroughly enjoyed, and we would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle of London’s city centre. It is also great for the business traveller and has everything one could possibly need. It’s also worth noting that the staff were extremely efficient and friendly.
