Leaf can be found located in Liverpool’s city centre, but don’t let its unassuming appearance fool you. This is actually a fantastic teashop and we have visited previously to sample some of their loose tea offerings, however this time we decided to stop by for lunch.

When we arrived we were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We decided to begin our experience with a couple of cocktails, and so I opted for the Turncoat gin and Fever Tree tonic which was served with grapefruit and rosemary. My partner opted for the rose petal infused gin mixed with Fentimans rose lemonade and rose petals. These drinks were incredibly refreshing and we savoured each mouthful.

Whilst browsing the menu we shared their crisp fried falafel which was garnished with tzatziki. These falafels were wonderfully crisp just as the name suggests. They certainly didn't disappoint and left us excited for what was to come.

“The food was tasty, the setting was lovely, and the drinks were impressive.”

After much debate we finally moved on to our main course and I decided on their pan fried chicken complete with chestnut bubble and squeak, creamed cabbage, pancetta crisp and honey mustard dressing. My partner decided on the jerk lamb rump complete with coconut and coriander rice, roast garlic beans, chilli, exotic garden tea and mango dressing. Both main courses were expertly prepared and flavoursome, with the real highlight being the jerk lamb rump.

During our meal my partner enjoyed a glass of 2016, Sauvignon Blanc Yealands Estate Land Made, Marlborough, New Zealand, which was crisp and fruity; whilst I had a simple gin and tonic - Whitley Neil and Fever Tree Tonic garnished with Cape gooseberry and orange - having been impressed with our pre-dinner drinks.

We simply could not visit leaf without experiencing one of their vast tea choices, so I decided on the gunpowder supreme green tea, which is nothing short of impressive, and my partner opted for the more adventurous lemongrass and ginger rooibos.

Once again we were impressed with our visit to Leaf. The food was tasty, the setting was lovely, and the drinks were impressive.
