The Caledonian Hotel in Edinburgh is part of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel Group and certainly meets the high levels of luxury that the brand sets for itself. Sitting in the heart of the city, you would struggle to find a better position and the hotel even boasts a wonderful view of Edinburgh castle.

The hotel exterior is impressive, with original statues in place and the original architecture emphasised by well-placed lights. The interior is also very impressive and offered us a warm welcome with its grand staircase and almost imposing columns. Although simple in design, the interior is in keeping with the traditional feel of the hotel whilst providing contemporary comfort that isn’t overpowering.

“It was wonderful to wake up to such incredible views of Edinburgh castle.”

We stayed in a deluxe castle view room, which offered unparalleled views of the surrounding area; it was wonderful to wake up to such incredible views of Edinburgh castle. Mirroring the interior design of the hotels main rooms, our deluxe room was simple in design but in keeping with the style of the hotel.

The room felt spacious, thanks to high ceilings and sparing furnishings, the large double bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was also lovely and spacious, with a number of high-end toiletries included.

Elsewhere in the hotel the facilities were equally impressive. Particularly the Guerlain Spa, which is renowned for its large pool, fitness facilities and spa treatments. The hotel also offers spa packages for those looking for a relaxing break. The Caledonian also provides peace of mind outside of the historical walls, providing valet parking for guests to ensure that they are relaxed from the moment they pull up outside.
