Macdonald Holyrood Hotel in Edinburgh is situated in the city's historic, beautiful old town, just a short ten minute walk from the renowned Royal Mile. This is the ideal hotel for exploring this unique city, especially if you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Edinburgh is such a vibrant and thriving place, and having your own sense of escape within the city is invaluable, so we were looking forward to our stay at this hotel.

As we arrived, we pulled up and made our way inside the foyer as our keys were taken and our car was parked for us, a service that is always welcomed. We were swiftly checked in and shown on our way to our Feature Room which was recently refurbished just this year. Although not overly spacious, there was an abundance of dark warm red colours used throughout the décor, giving this room a lovely warmth and cosy ambiance. The king size bed took centre stage, along with a small desk for anyone looking to catch up on a bit of work. Other room amenities included a large flat screen television and a welcomed coffee machine. There was also a small dinging table with two arm chairs that were wonderfully comfortable and provided the perfect setting for a morning coffee. Our bathroom boasted a large walk-in shower along with a single wash basin and toilet.

“You can expect to be spoilt at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel”

Stepping back into the hotel you will find a large spa which includes a 14-metre heated swimming pool complete with upright seating around the pool. For anyone looking to keep fit, you will find a large gym with a good selection of equipment. There is also a vast selection of spa treatments available for anyone looking to be pampered. An afternoon exploring this hotel’s leisure facilities is an afternoon well spent.

For dining options, the hotel is home to Bistro Deluxe by Paul Tamburrini, along with a bar to start your evening off before you head out into the city. Edinburgh is such a fantastic place to explore, so it would be a shame not to do so, however you can expect to be spoilt at the Macdonald Holyrood Hotel with everything you should need right there in front of you, so you’d be forgiven for not straying too far.

The Macdonald Holyrood Hotel provides pleasant stay just steps from the city centre; we had a relaxing experience and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The staff at this hotel are a real credit to the brand, being friendly and on-hand with knowledgeable tips about the local area and the hotels amenities.
