For those who appreciate the finer things in life, or are looking for that extra special experience, afternoon tea at Prestonfield House is simply a must. There are few experiences more memorable, or more enjoyable. It's just a short drive from Edinburgh, and you'll be made to feel most welcome.

When booking be sure to request to sit next to the roaring fire in the Tapestry Room. This helps set the scene for your afternoon in a quintessentially British way. The service is absolutely faultless, the staff are very attentive. The afternoon tea service is of the highest quality, and this is an experience I'd happily repeat.

Prestonfield's Champagne Afternoon Tea service starts with a glass of Billecart-Salmon Champagne. A beautifully harmonious and balanced champagne, renowned for its quality and palatable taste.

    “The teas were just splendid.”

We had a selection of Sandwiches brought out for us to enjoy, including; Honey-roast Ayrshire Ham, Dijon Mustard Butter on Brown Bread, Egg Mayonnaise and Cress on White Bread. You can see that each sandwich has been meticulously handmade, and the presentation was superb. The sandwiches were delicious and I wouldn't have hesitated to eat more of them.

We sampled a savoury selection, Pumpkin and Goats Cheese Palmiere, Haggis Bonbon. A dish with a very Scottish infused angle, tasted superb.

For cakes we were treated to Strawberry Financier, Lemon and Mango Macaroons, Coconut and Raspberry Profiteroles, and a Dark Chocolate and Cherry Cake. All the cakes looked delicious, and tasted perfect. An ideal accompaniment to help complete afternoon tea.

Speaking of tea, from their Planters' Range selection of Loose Leaf Teas we had a Breakfast Tea, and an Afternoon Tea. The teas were just splendid as expected, and capped off a thoroughly enjoyable and eloquent afternoon.
