Mirabelle Restaurant can be found inside The Grand Hotel in Eastbourne. We were shown to our table complete with silver service in this opulent restaurant. The whole team were keen to advise us on our choices and answer any questions that we had regarding the menu.

Our meal began with canapés, which consisted of Mediterranean Vegetables; Radish, Cherry Tomato and Pickled Gherkin, as well as Sweet Potato and Avocado. The canapes were wonderfully presented and each one had sharp and delicious flavours. This was followed by Mediterranean Couscous Salad, with a selection of Fine Breads.

Next we ordered the Carrot Cocktail, which was a sharp purée of Carrots, garnished with Fresh Ginger, Lime and Coriander Cress. A superb cocktail, the flavours blended perfectly and the subtle hint of lime really made this dish enjoyable. My partner ordered the Celeriac and Wild Garlic Velouté which was also a wonderful combination of flavours and another superb dish.

“We couldn’t have asked for anything more from our evening.”

Our main courses were served beneath silver cloches. These were lifted by our waiter to reveal the artistic presentation of my Sweet Potato Gnocchi in a Sage Butter Sauce with Rocket. The dish lived up to the presentation in taste, this was an absolutely superb dish. My partner ordered the Roast Monkfish with Red Peppers and New Potatoes finished with a Saffron Sauce. The monkfish was perfectly seasoned and prepared, and the saffron sauce completed this dish.

Moving on to dessert I was glad that I followed the team’s recommendation of the Pineapple Cannelloni with Coconut Cream, Mango and a Passion Fruit Syrup. A delightful creation of exotic colours and flavours. My partner chose the Lemon Panna Cotta with Strawberry Compote and Lemon Balm Cress. Both dishes were wonderful and provided a fitting end to a splendid evening from start to finish.

We opted to finish up our evening sitting by the fire in the Great Hall. Here we were presented with decadent Petit Fours, Coffee and Fresh Mint Tea. We couldn’t have asked for anything more from our evening, a perfect end to a perfect meal.
