Overlooking the Looe River Valley and facing south in the direction of Looe and the rolling hillsides, Trewogey Farm plays host to a large selection of cottages. Each with a different name and a different identity, there are cottages to suit parties of any size. Each cottage has been individually restored and has been transformed into a home from home experience.

Although many self-catering cottages are kept modern and high-tech, the Treworgey cottages are maintained in the traditional style of the valley; showcasing original features, the charm of each building has been preserved. Each cottage also benefits from restoration with natural and local materials including log fires, antique and contemporary furniture, original beams and a selection of books. But despite this focus on maintaining the traditional feel, each cottage has been equipped with the latest in modern appliances to provide comfort.

We stayed in a three bedroom cottage called The River Barn. As one of the oldest cottages at Treworgey it dates back to the time of the original Treworgey Manor which sadly burnt down. With a focus on being environmentally friendly, the cottage benefitted from under-floor heating sourced from a ground-sourced heat pump.

A very spacious cottage, The River Barn included a fully equipped kitchen and a large farmhouse table, big enough to fit all the guests. The downstairs also benefits from a shower room as well as a large sitting room area which includes a large table, charming wool rugs, leather sofas, plenty of entertainment and a traditional wood burner.

“Every detail is thought of including small decorative touches such as fresh flowers, and even fresh scones on arrival.”

The upstairs of the cottage contains the three large bedrooms, two of which have bathrooms with a roll-top bath and separate shower. All bedrooms are decorated in a similar style to the downstairs and are in keeping with the traditional feel of the cottage. The master bedroom includes a large brass double bed, whereas the other two include link beds which can be either twin or double beds.

The views from the cottage overlook a large enclosed garden and reach down the valley towards the river. There is also access to a heated outside pool which can be enjoyed in the summer. The outside is perfectly equipped for warmer months and includes a barbecue and well-kept gardens.

Every detail is thought of including small decorative touches such as fresh flowers, and even fresh scones on arrival. The owners also provide guests with the opportunity to have a catered holiday and will deliver homemade cakes, afternoon teas and dinners to each cottage. For those who prefer to stay self-catering, the owners provide a delivery service in association with the local farm in order to provide local produce upon arrival.

The cottages have access to many facilities and entertainment including the popular animal feed which guests can get involved in. The farm also includes a riding school where guests can take lessons or enjoy a hack in the countryside. There is even an all weather tennis court for the active guests. For those looking for more relaxation the farm provides sun loungers for the summer months and has a DVD library which the guests can enjoy during their stay.
