Stoke Place hotel is located on the outskirts of Slough. The hotel itself is a small country house, surrounded by well-kept gardens and lakes. When we arrived, we made our way through the gateway and along the wonderful gravel driveway. As we travelled down, the façade came more clearly into view and the character of the building became much more apparent. We were intrigued to explore.

After parking, we carried our luggage across the driveway and made our way through to reception where we were greeted warmly and swiftly checked in. We were then escorted to our suite. Unfortunately there are no lifts in this hotel, which meant we had to carry our luggage up the staircase. This, of course, is perfectly fine for light travellers, but unfortunately I do not fall into that category.

We eventually made it to our suite, which actually felt more like a large bedroom - with the focal point being the roll top bath tub which is placed next to the huge bay windows overlooking the grounds. This offers the perfect spot for a relaxing pre-dinner bath. I have to say, the views are the real selling point for this room, especially on a sunny day.

“If you’re looking for a relaxing night away, then look no further than Stoke Place.”

The suite also offers a desk and a wardrobe, a mini bar and flat screen TV. The contemporary four poster bed takes centre stage of this room, although it is not hugely characterful. The bathroom is spacious and is well designed, complete with his and hers wash basins along with a large walk-in shower.

The hotel’s restaurant, the King and Lamb - is a great place to eat during your stay. The restaurant serves up British food with French influence all day, and offers a lovely setting in which to enjoy your meal.

If you’re looking for a relaxing night away, then look no further than Stoke Place. This hotel certainly offers tranquillity, and is a great place for a country break. We can recommend exploring the grounds on a sunny day.
