The Indigo Hotel in Birmingham opened in late 2011. It is a modern hotel in the Cube Sky building in Birmingham city centre.

The décor is completely contemporary, with sharp edges, clean lines and bold colours throughout. It isn’t garish or off-putting though, it has been well considered and provides a lively, vibrant feel to the hotel.

It’s definitely a city-break hotel, great for exploring the city for a weekend. It isn’t particularly conducive to families or romantic breaks, but there would be nothing stopping you staying here for those reasons if you wanted to.

The entrance and lobby is on the 7th floor, with rooms on the 23rd floor upwards. We had an Executive Room on the 23rd floor which provided a great view over the canal area surrounding the Cube. The room was a modest size but was very light and airy. It had a nice, relaxed feel that made us feel comfortable right away.

The bed was large, comfortable and gave us an excellent nights’ sleep. The rest of the room was functional, but comfortable. It included a large LCD TV, Wi-Fi, complimentary minibar, desk area and a small seating area.

“The Indigo Hotel delivered enough to make the stay enjoyable.”

The bathroom was a good size, with a large walk-in shower, decent products, slippers and bathrobe's. The mirror is one of those clever ones that don’t mist up which is excellent if there is more than one of you trying to get ready at the same time.

Overall, our impression of the Indigo Hotel in Birmingham is that it’s a great place for a city break but would get a little much for a longer stay. Service was friendly, the rooms a good size and everything delivered enough to make the stay enjoyable. That said, we would stay here again.
