Chateau Rhianfa can only be described as a fairy-tale hotel tucked away in Anglesey, overlooking the picturesque Menai Strait. From the moment you arrive it becomes quite clear you have arrived somewhere very special. The castle-like architecture offers a huge amount of character, which can be admired from any direction from within the grounds.

Once checked in we were escorted to our Duchess Suite in the main building. We arrived at the suite in great anticipation as name really does evoke a certain image of grandeur. To our delight, the suite certainly didn’t disappoint; it was wonderfully spacious and full of character. The focal point of the room is the raised level at the far end of the room, which offers unrestricted view over the surrounding grounds and the Menai Strait, which on a sunny day is simply stunning. The raised level is also home to a beautiful free standing bath tub which is very inviting offering a fantastic view whilst bathing in the morning.

The rest of the room is open plan and includes a super king size bed complete with plump cushions and pillows, as well as a freestanding traditional wardrobe, which alone has so much character. There’s also a flat screen television along with tea and coffee making facilities with fresh milk and biscuits. The bathroom is quite a contrast to the rest of the room with its modern finish. It offered a large walk-in shower, with polished chrome fixtures and fittings throughout.

“For a relaxing break away Chateau Rhianfa has it all, the staff are very friendly and no one is without a smile.”

The suite also includes a sofa, armchairs and a beautiful dressing table; along with a collection of books should you wish to kick off the shoes, sit back and relax. If this is for you, the Duchess Suite really does offer a relaxing space to enjoy.

In the hotel itself you will find several drawing rooms and a music room where there is no shortage of places to sit and enjoy the views over the surrounding area. The best time to sit here is towards the end of the afternoon as day turns to night and you have the chance to admire the scenery as the light changes across the landscape - it really is quite special.

Afternoon tea is also served in the drawing rooms and tables are well-spaced, so you’re not intruded by neighbouring conversations.

For other dining options you can enjoy fine dining at their Le Dragon Rouge restaurant, which is a celebration of Welsh cuisine done very well. And for a pre-dinner drink it’s well worth visiting their bar area. It offers a small and intimate space with a traditional bar, offering a selection of cocktails, wine and beer. Other facilities around the hotel include a hot-tub and tennis, and for those looking for adventure there is Zip World nearby along with rib boat experiences, which are a real blast. For a relaxing break away Chateau Rhianfa has it all, the staff are very friendly and no one is without a smile, we would have no hesitations in returning.
